Hi, I’m Karen Pittman, and Vivid Laboratories is one of my current projects. I live in Austin, dream of travel, and go hiking when I get the chance. As a long-time explorer of many media, printmaking hits a sweet spot: I get to work with my hands, carve wood, play with colors, and make beautiful things using a process rooted in tradition.

I’m grateful to have learned a thing or two from Annie Bissett, who introduced me to the world of mokuhanga, from Dave Bull, whose generosity with information about printmaking and enthusiasm for the craft inspire me deeply, and from my mom, who taught me principles of color and perspective while I still had some baby teeth (and left behind some mighty fine paintings.)
